Opposite Symptoms

#OppositeSymptoms: #DrSRPhatak Dr. P. Sankaran has asked me if opposite Modalities can indicate the same remedy. I give my experiences hereunder. 1) Some years back a lady suffering from arthritis consulted me, she had pain and stiffness in the joints which was better by a hot bath and by hot application. I had tried on her Cimicifuga and other remedies for over a month without any relief. All her symptoms were matched by Guaicum is known to have aggravation by heat, still i ga ve her Guaicum because of the general matching of the symptoms and she improved considerably. She had come to me from Ratnagiri, brought on a stretcher but went back walking without any trouble after six months. Since that time if all other symptoms match I have not hesitated to select a remedy even if a particular modality or sensation is opposite to that given in the books. 2) A patient had pain in the nape of the neck extending to the arms on extending the neck backwards. It was diagnosed as Cervical spondylosis. His other symptoms were all matched by Graphites but Graphites has aggravation by extending the neck back. In spite of this I prescribed Graphites and the patient was completely relieved. 3) Recently a patient came to me suffering from supra-orbital headache of 3 months duration. He used to take a number of analgesics without any relief. When I enquired closely he gave me a peculiar modality viz. that he got much relief by inhaling any smoke so that if nothing was available he would burn some paper and inhale that smoke. This smoke uses to give him more relief than even Novalgin. The book only gives 'Smoke agg.' and not 'Smoke amel.' but from among these remedies I selected Kali bich. and this gave 90% relief. #ClinicalExperineces_DrSRPhatak
